You might remember Anna as a project I posted last April.
She was pretty beat up and I restyled her with this distressed southwest theme:
It seems like people really love bright colors like this on furniture but they don’t buy them! I had this piece for sale on Marketplace as well as in my booth at Country Fair Mall and despite being a sturdy, well-made table, it never sold so I decided to repaint it.
It does get boring painting everything in neutral colors but that is what sells. Farmhouse style decor also seems to be popular so, that is the look I decided to go with for Anna’s re-do.
I repainted the top of the table, using a little more black dry brushing for a darker look.
The rest of the table got three coats of Ivory and then I used Cold Espresso to lightly “faux-distress” the details and the edges. This is a great way to distress a piece of furniture that has already been painted if you don’t want the color underneath to show through. I use a small block of wood dipped in paint and just rub it along the edges and high spots to make it look like the wood is peeking through underneath.
I might just keep Anna for myself! Which is your favorite look for Anna, the teal southwest look or the farmhouse style?
I’m a big lover of bright colors and tend to paint my furniture that way. But your white/neutral scheme is very pretty. Love your work!
